Former Mpumalanga News reporter dies

The former journalist joined Lowveld Media as an intern for Mpumalanga News in 2001, after completing his journalism studies at the Technikon Northern Gauteng (now Tshwane University of Technology, Soshanguve Campus).

One of Mpumalanga News’ former journalists, Thabo Sedibe of KaBokweni, has died. He was 40 years old when he succumbed to a short illness in hospital this morning.

“We are all shocked and saddened by my brother’s death. It was so sudden; he was still young and intelligent and we were still expecting a lot from him,” said Mish, Thabo’s brother.

The former journalist joined Lowveld Media as an intern for Mpumalanga News in 2001, after completing his journalism studies at the Technikon Northern Gauteng (now Tshwane University of Technology, Soshanguve Campus). 

After completing his six-month internship, he was contracted to join the lively team of young reporters led by the former editor, the late Joseph Mabuza.

“He embraced this opportunity with great excitement and enthusiasm and covered extensive
community news stories from his township and surrounding areas. Thabo will be remembered for not shying away from voicing his opinion and defending his point, no matter how controversial it was. He was a dedicated family man and a caring friend. Robala ka kgotso Kaile!,” said Sakhile Mokoena, one of Thabo’s friends.
