ANC suspends provincial and regional programmes

The ANC in Mpumalanga is approaching its 13th Provincial Conference, and part of the processes is for branches to undergo their BBGMs and BGMs for nomination of leadership and delegates.

The African National Congress has suspended Branch General Meetings (BGMs) due to incidents of violence during nomination processes ahead of the provincial elective conference.

The acting provincial secretary, Lindiwe Ntshalintshali said  since BGMs programmes started, a number of  cases have been reported including intimidation and assault which has caused great concern.

“The ANC is saddened by the recent violent incidents during these gatherings which resulted in the death of its members. We are aware of two cases which took place during the BGM nomination processes. Two members from ward 32 Mbombela and ward 17 Msukaligwa sub-regions have passed on due to intolerance of comrades regarding leadership preferences.”

The ANC would like to convey its sincere condolences to the families of our comrades. We want to condemn these acts of impunity with the highest degree of contempt, and we want to assure all the family members affected by these tragedies that we will support them and ensure that the law takes its course,” said Ntshalintshali
