Three women trend after being murdered during 16 Days of Activism Campaign

The campaign’s purpose is to create awareness and mobilize communities in eradicating gender-based violence. However, the scourge continues.

Today marks 10 days into the 16 Days of Activism against women and children but the scourge continues.

There has been a social media unrest with users up in arms following the death of Gomolemo Legae, Precious Ramabulana and Kgaugelo Tshwae who were killed in separate incidents recently.

Legae was on her way home when a 19-year-old man allegedly started following her. She was later heard screaming. She identified the man to community members at the scene before succumbing to her injuries. The man was then arrested and will appear in the Mmabatho Magistrate’s Court in Mafikeng soon.

Tshwae was murdered by her partner last Sunday. He set a vehicle alight with Tshwae inside. Her body was found on Monday in a bush at Mmakau, North West.

Ramabulana, who was a student at Capricorn TVET College, was allegedly stabbed 52 times by Aubrey Manaka in Mokomene, Limpopo.  The man appeared in court yesterday and was remanded in custody.

Tweeps weighed in and sent their condolences to the families of the girls:
