Woman appears in court for killing her soldier husband

The matter was postponed to today for the proceedings of Thoko Mashiloane's bail application.

Yesterday a 50-year- old woman appeared in the Bushbuckridge Magistrate’s Court in connection with the murder of her 56-year-old husband, Richard Mashiloane, a member of the South African Defence Force at SANDF 7 SAI, Phalaborwa.

The arrest of Thoko Mashiloane comes after the body of her husband was found with bruises and a big cut on his head by passersby on the R40 road near the Opern Gate in Acornhoek on November 18.

Police searched the body and found Mashiloane’s wallet, bank cards and cellphone numbers in his pockets.

According to the charge sheet, Mashiloane was killed by his wife and son with a crow bar.
It is further alleged that the suspects loaded the deceased’s body on the back of his Ford Bantam and asked a friend to drive them to Acornhoek where his body was dumped.
Police searched the deceased’s home and found bloody towels and clothes at the family’s pit toilet. Blood stains were also spotted on the victim’s vehicle although it was already cleaned.
The wife was subsequently arrested at Boikhutso Trust in Bushbuckridge.
