Tourists can now visit the country without their children’s birth certificates

The Department of Home Affairs Minister, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi has signed a waiver which allows foreign children into the country without carrying supporting documents.

This change was effected last Friday when the minister put his signature. However, South African parents are still required to provide supporting documents should they want to travel with their children abroad. This is in line with the Children’s Act.

Foreign children who require a visa to the country do not need to carry supporting documents for inspection at the port of entry. The documents will be processed when applying for a visa.
