Through the grapevine: When you know better, you do better

Who still performs without a deposit and something in writing? In 2019 nogal?

How did the word “local artists” not make it in this year’s Word of the Year list?

As much as some feel they are taken for granted and are often “ripped off” by promoters, we must say that ignorance and lack of information also plays a part.

Early this year music activations were run all over the province, but of course if you do not attend because you have an agenda with the hosts or whatever the reason or excuse, chances are you will remain a non-paid social media advocate! It’s funny how quiet it is when deals are sealed without anything in black and white, but when the going gets tough, people’s timelines are full of long posts about how local artists should be treated.

If you want to be taken seriously, it has to start with you. Know your worth! By the way, this is not directed at Reshen, who has been quite vocal about issues in the local entertainment scene.

Moving right along, DJ Zoe and King Harris seem to be doing a great job on Wiggle Tunes’ Urban Breakfast Show. We wish you all the best and Harris, no vulgar akere!

Have a great weekend and remember that when you know better, you do better.

May the force be with you!
