Premier back from Omani deal

A provincial delegation returned from a trade and investment visit to Oman yesterday. Premier Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane led the effort to sign offtake agreements to contribute to economic development in the province.

MBOMBELA – It was a follow-up to a business meeting with the Sultanate of Oman in October that secured trade deals between the countries.

The MEC for agriculture, rural development, land and environmental affairs, Vusi Shongwe, MEC for finance, economic development and tourism, Pat Ngomane, acting director-general, Mathews Mohlasedi, and the head of department of agriculture, rural development, land and environmental affairs, Lucky Monareng also accompanied the delegation.

The purpose of the meeting was to create an export destination for Mpumalanga agricultural produce.
For the trade agreements to be successful, it will be necessary to ensure that Mpumalanga produce has an efficient distribution channel that ultimately leads directly to Omani customers.
