Education department aims for 82% pass rate

The MEC of the department, Bonakele Majuba said there are plans in place to ensure that this year's Grade 12 learners will achieve this year's benchmark.

The Mpumalanga Department of Education held a Press Conference on the state of readiness to administer the 2019 National Senior Certificate examinations at Lowveld High School.

The MEC of the department, Bonakele Majuba said there are plans in place to ensure that this year’s Grade 12 learners will achieve this year’s benchmark.

“These examinations are not intended to put pressure and create anxieties, but they are simply the symbolic pinnacle of the hard work that goes into fashioning a finished product. Learners were equipped make a mark in their final exams. There were morning, weekend, afternoon, winter and spring classes that were organised to make sure and that they need to now pay off,” he said.

He pointed out that time management must be a priority to ensure that each section of the question paper is given the necessary time so that one will be able to complete all question on time. “Remember that you can, you are able and your gifted and the department wishes you the best.”

An NSC examination pledge ceremony will be held at Makause Secondary School in eMalahleni to observe the signing of the pledge on October 11.
