Three suspects charged with possession of stolen vehicles

Upon arrival, the officers found vehicles and the drivers and occupants of the vehicles fled but the police managed to arrest three of them.

Five men aged between 23 and 34 are expected to make a second appearance in the Komatipoort Periodical Court tomorrow for a formal bail application having appeared at the same court yesterday.

They are charged with possession of stolen motor vehicles. According to the police, on Tuesday, September 10 police were tipped-off about a suspicious stolen vehicle roaming around town at Komatipoort. They followed the tip-off, leading them to a guesthouse nearby. Upon arrival, the officers found vehicles and the drivers and occupants of the vehicles fled but the police managed to arrest three of them.

A short probe revealed that three cars were allegedly stolen in Gauteng. Police confiscated five vehicles, three which were driven by the arrested suspects, a Toyota Land Cruiser, Isuzu Double Cab bakkies as well as a Toyota Rav4. Later on the day, the police received another tip-off about suspected stolen vehicles, an Isuzu bakkie and a one Toner truck along the N4 and at Lebombo Border Post. “We managed to move swiftly and arrested an additional two suspects,” said the police.
