Enjoy a night of worship with Benjamin Dube

Lowveld gospel music lovers are in for a good time when the one and only gospel great, Benjamin Dube descends on these shores on September 6, where he is destined for a one night only worship concert dubbed "Night of Worship" at the Communio Auditorium from 18:00 until late.

The host for the evening’s worship will be Ligwalagwala FM’s Lungile Mhango.

This multi-award winning gospel guru is renowned the world over, and if there is anything that Dube does best, it is singing without any stress. Hence this one night only concert held on that Friday evening is the right prescription for many music lovers from all walks of life, to take a breather and kick off the weekend in great style.

Starting off in 1974 as part of the Dube Family Singers in church, he never stopped releasing power-packed songs that have catapulted his career to greater heights ever since.

His music, which has touched the lives of his followers drawn from all cultures, will certainly appeal to his fans, who are expected to fill up the venue that evening. His fans can rest assured that as yours truly will touch on 10 of the most popular songs he has offered to the world, they are sure to be included in his repertoire.

I picked “Lonile iBandla”, “Yiwo Lawa Amandla”, “I Choose Jesus”, “Uvumile”, “Walk Upon the Water”, “Victorious”, “Lomusa Ongaka”, “Zita Renyu” which means “Hallowed be Your Name”, “He Keeps On Doing” and “You Are God Alone”.

The unique thing about Dube, as has been widely vouched in gospel circles, is that even if you are not a good worshipper, he has a way of connecting you to the realm of the Spirit, by merely listening to his songs or watching him as he ministers for God. It is all contained in well-coordinated rhythms. From there, this gospel singer begins to speak to the listeners’ spirit with his inspirational lyrics.

He will be accompanied by the House of Grace Choir, featuring the likes of Mandla Tshabalala, Bongi Damans, Xolani Mdlalose, Zinzi Dube, and the Dube Brothers, among others.

According to organisers, Jordimix Marketing, “this is a must-attend concert that certainly comes at the right time when tempers and spirits have to be quelled in light of the tough economic times in the country. People need salvation and also need to be sanctified; Dube and his crew have the remedy to heal the people.

They need to attend in their numbers and not miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be under one roof with Bishop Benjamin Dube, worshipping.”

Tickets are available at Computicket at R200, and R350 for the golden circle.
