MEC calls on matrics to apply for bursaries

The application period is open until September 30.

The MEC for education, Bonakele Majuba, calls on all grade 12s and out-of-school youth to apply for department bursaries.

This includes the Ephraim Mogale Bursary Scheme, Funza Lushaka, and other bursary opportunities.
“We also want to urge our learners not to miss the opportunity to apply to Higher Education Institutions and TVET Colleges,” said Majuba while delivering the department’s budget’s of R21 826 325 this morning.

The department has set aside R210 million to maintain 2 203 current bursary holders and to recruit a new cohort of 500.
To quality for the bursary scheme the applicant must complete a bursary application form.

Also bring the following:
*A certified copy of birth certificate or identification document.-
* Certified copies of salary statements of both parents /guardians.In case of death of one or both parents submit certified copies of death certificates. In case of orphans submit a letter from social workers.

* Certified copies of grade 12 certificates or a certified copy of grade 12 June examination results if the applicant is still in grade 12.-
* In case where the applicant lives with disability, bring a proof from a registered medical doctor or clinic or hospital.-
* Year-end results if you are already studying at a tertiary institution or a university acceptance letter if you are not registered at a tertiary institution.-
*Proof of residential address. –
*A stamped letter from CRDP coordinator at the local municipality confirming proof of residence for those who reside in CRDP municipalities.-
*A letter from a local social worker confirming indigent status, if applicable.
