Carolina man fined R50 000 for stolen property

The man could not operate the machine and failed to explain where he got the brush cutter.

CAROLINA – Jacob Kapo Nkosi was sentenced by the Carolina District Court on Tuesday to 18 months or a R50 000 fine.

The sentence was suspended for five years on condition that he does not commit or found guilty of the same offence during the period of suspension.

“The police were patrolling the area when they came across the accused who was carrying a brush cutter to the value of R5 000. When the police interviewed him, he could not explain where he got the machine. He couldn’t even operate the machine. He was then arrested for possession of the suspected stolen property,” said the police. The police pleaded with the community not to steal or buy stolen property.
