Missing siblings found dead in Mganduzweni

The sibling's bodies were found naked, with their hands tied with their own clothes and pieces of clothes found around their necks.

Two siblings aged five and six who went missing yesterday were found dead in bushes near a stream in Mganduzweni this morning.
According to the children’s grandmother, Silindile (6) and her sister Nontokozo (5) left her home around 17:00 yesterday to visit their other granny on the other side of the village, but they never reached home.

“We started searching for their whereabouts immediately after learning that they never reached my sister. Members of the community helped search all over the place, even on the path where they were discovered this morning, but we couldn’t find them,” explains Ms Phumzile Sifunda.

“We are so traumatised. We don’t know how on earth someone could decide to kill little kids in this painful manner,” she adds.

Sgt Naniki Nonyane, spokesperson for Masoyi police station, said the sibling’s bodies were found naked, with their hands tied with their own clothes and pieces of clothes found around their necks.

“Police are investing a double murder case. The motive is not known. The post-mortem results will determine the cause of death,”she said. No one has been arrested so far.
