MEC Pat Ngomane gives some tips on road safety over the Easter Weekend

44 lives were lost from 209 road crashes during the Easter period in 2018. This was a reduction of 30% as compared to the same period in 2017 when 63 people were killed.

Let us reduce road crashes during this Easter holidays and beyond by:

  • Ensuring that your vehicle is road worthy before undertaking any journey, resting after every 200 km or two hours when driving long distances, not using the cellphone or text while driving, not overloading vehicles.

  • Pedestrians wearing visible clothes at night and always crossing the road at designated places.

  • Remember to always report bad driving and refuse to be transported in vehicles which are not roadworthy.
