Remote parks targeted by criminals in KaBokweni

The police have registered many hijacked cars from those areas.

A number of vehicles had been reported stolen from remote car parks in various locations in KaBokweni.

Mpumalanga News learnt that the problematic area is in fact a spot at Khumbula, which is mostly used by married people to secretly meet with their lovers.

KaBokweni police spokesperson Capt Shirley Nsimba said, “We have registered many hijacked cars from that area and in many cases victims will cover up their story with inaccurate information when reporting such cases to the police.”

She explained, “This has been happening for a while now. We warn the community to avoid doing this but rather book safe places to chill with their girlfriends.”

Nsimba also warned members of the public about the return of a scam at KaBokweni Shopping Complex near banks.

“The culprit observes when a person is withdrawing money from the bank and then follows him/her closely. He (culprit) will then drop rolled papers and tell that person that they must go share the money on the ground, as they both saw it. Once the victim agrees and goes with them, the person is robbed of all their belongings,” she added.
