It is all or nothing says Ramaphosa

Ramaphosa outlined the past successes of the ANC and what was to be expected in the manifesto to be tabled by Zuma and urged Mpumalanga and other provinces to deliver on their promises, which is more votes in the elections.

JEPPES REEF – The ANC will never cease to rule over this country, no matter how much the opposition tries to bog it down.

This was said by its deputy president, Mr Cyril Ramaphosa during his door-to-door campaign on Wednesday in this remote village where he was met by hundreds of supporters at the home of one disabled resident, Mr Solomon Maziya who received a battery-operated wheelchair.

“Today marks the birth of the ANC 102 years ago and that makes us the oldest organisation on the African continent. There’s no other bigger organisation than the ANC. We celebrate the successes we have brought to the people of South Africa in the past 20 years and we will continue doing good upon the communities because this is a mandate we will always carry with us until eternity,” said Ramaphosa to loud applause.

Speaking to disabled Maziya, he said, “Maziya, we’ve brought the mechanical wheelchair which will ease your mobility, but as we’ve now noticed that your toilet is outside, as the ANC government, we will make improvements to your house so that you utilise an inside toilet than an outside one.”

Reacting to the donation and further offer, “I must appreciate one thing, that in Jeppes Reef the president of the country first came to my house, not my parental home.”

Corrected by Ramaphosa that he was only the deputy, Maziya retorted thus: “I know very well who Ramaphosa is, but one day he will be president and he has already set foot in my house.”

However, Maziya commended the ANC leaders in Ramaphosa’s entourage which included Naledi Pandor, Pinky Moloi, Skwatsha, Paul Mashatile and others, for keeping its promises and vowed that he would definitely be voting in the forthcoming elections.

However, Maziya had a stern warning for the youth when he said: “I’m particularly worried about the youth who indulge too much into alcohol and then resort to driving. “That’s the same manner in which I ended up like this. Don’t drink and drive and actually stay away from it at all costs,” said Maziya.

Proceeding to the Schoemansdal community hall which was packed to the brim, Ramaphosa and his entourage sent the crowds crazy with freedom songs and dancing as they arrived.

Welcoming the entourage, ANC regional chairperson, Mr Ngrayi Ngwenya said: “You are welcome and will always get the support you seek here in Nkomazi. In the next elections I promise you that we will give you 99% of the votes to ensure that we retain President Jacob in power.”

In response, Ramaphosa outlined the past successes of the ANC and what was to be expected in the manifesto to be tabled by Zuma and urged Mpumalanga and other provinces to deliver on their promises, which is more votes in the elections.

The mini rally ended with a champaign toast and cutting of the birthday cake which was later only given to elderly citizens.

The ANC maifesto will be launched at the Mbombela Stadium on Saturday.
