Mother who murdered her four children will appear in court today after hospitalisation

When the bodies were discovered they were in the early stages of decomposition. However, a post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

EMALAHLENI – The woman who allegedly killed her four children has been discharged from hospital last Friday and is expected to physically appear before the court today.

The 24-year-old mother was admitted in hospital after murdering her children. According to Brigadier Leonard Hlathi, the reason for her hospitalisation is still unknown. The children and the mother were last seen together on Boxing Day, December 26.

She handed herself over to the police after the bodies of her children were discovered inside her house in Klarinet. The woman had called her family members and told them to go check her house. “They reportedly went there and were met by a gruesome scene where dead bodies aged between 11 months and eight years, were wrapped in blankets inside the house,” said Brig Hlathi.

The bodies were in the early stage of decomposition. Ms Mathilda Mahlangu, the landlord, said they last saw the children at their home. The motive of the murder is not known at this stage. However, a postmortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
