Body found floating in river in Block C

Police are looking for anyone that can identify a body found in the Mahorwane River in Block C last Saturday.

BLOCK C – The body of a man in his forties or fifties was found in the Mahorwane River last Saturday, 15 September.

He has a scorpion tattoo on his left arm, an invisible tattoo on his right and a scar on his forehead.

The body was naked and on the bank of the stream, police found a pair of blue jeans.

According to Capt Magonseni Nkosi of Tonga SAPS, the body seems to have been in the water for a while. No foul play is currently suspected.

The body was taken to the government mortuary at Tonga Hospital.

Anyone that might be able to identify the deceased is encouraged to contact Sgt James Khoza on 079-364-3533.

This is the third body to be found in water in the area in the past three months.

On June 24, a fisherman found a severed hand in the Komati River. Police later found the body of a young man with both arms missing, about 200 metres from where the hand was found.

On the afternoon of July 3, fishermen came across a body near the bank of the Driekoppies Dam. Police found a backpack containing compressed dagga on the body.
