Cope’s new leadership elected

This congress is part of the preparation of the national congress that is expected to be held in Boksburg, Gauteng between January 9-12, 2014.

MBOMBELA – The Congress of the People (COPE) in the province on Sunday held its congress at the Nelspruit Civic Centre to elect a new provincial leadership.

This congress is part of the preparation of the national congress that is expected to be held in Boksburg, Gauteng between January 9-12, 2014. Some of the people who were elected include the former first MEC of public works in the province, Mr Nelson Mathebula (Treasurer ,Mr Mike Mokoena (Secretary), Mr Sizile Ndlovu (Chairperson ) and the former speaker of Bushbuckridge Local Municipality, Ms Nomsa Kubaye was elected as a deputy chairperson.

Speaking to Mpumalanga News, the newly-elected chairperson, Mr Sizile Ndlovu indicated that the congress went well and it shows that the party is moving in the right direction as he went on and said: “We are preparing for the national congress for next year as we know that the national general elections are around the corner.“

He went on and alluded that COPE is ready for the elections. ”We are getting ourselves ready for the elections and I must say we are better than in 2009 as we have managed to establish branches in different areas in the province. This time around, there are no court cases,“ he explained.

The congress was also graced by delegates from the national level, Mr Jack Bloem and Mr Jonnie Haung.
