Lily Mine illegal miners face charges of attempted murder

The other suspect, whose name is known to this publication will appear in court after he is discharged from hospital.

Two men appeared briefly at the Barberton Magistrate’s Court after they were found at Lily Mine for illegal mining on Sunday.

This is after a group of men, Innocent Mncunu (35), Thokozani Masilela (29), and Bongani Nkosi (38) who died  and one suspect who is under police watch in hospital suffering from injuries after a shoot-out with the police during a search for armed illegal miners around Lily Mine in Low’s Creek near Barberton.


The suspects will appear at Low’Creek Magistrate’s Court facing charges of attempted murder and unlawful possession of firearms and dagga. Their case was postponed to July 12 for bail application.
