Three men arrested for illegal possession of firearm
According to police, Prince Sifiso Khoza and Bernard Khumalo were arrested when police were patrolling the area.
Three men appeared at the Malelane Periodical Court after they were arrested for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition yesterday. The trio attempted to gain entry through the Kruger National Park Malelane gate yesterday.
The police received a tip-off about a white Volkswagen Polo with two occupants heading to the gate. They stopped and searched the vehicle discovering a hunting rifle with the serial number filed off, ammunition as well as a silencer.
In a separate, the police received a tip-off about Lennie Ngomane who was arrested a few minutes after the first arrest in the same area and heading to the same gate.
“The vehicle was stopped and searched and a black plastic bag full of ammunition was found. The suspect was then arrested and the ammunition was confiscated. All three suspects were granted R500 bail each and ordered to appear again on June 25 pending further investigation,” said the police.
