Buscor bus set ablaze in Matsulu

Buscor is currently conducting an investigation to find out what the cause of the fire was.

MBOMBELA- A Buscor bus was set alight on Friday evening in Matsulu just two days after the nationwide bus strike.

Mr Vian Ndlovu from Buscor confirmed the incident. “We are aware of the incident that occurred, however we cannot confirm if it is related to the strike. We are currently conducting an investigation to find out what happened and I cannot comment further” said Ndlovu.

Despite the nationwide bus strike that started last Wednesday with employees demanding a 12 per cent increase, business went on as usual in Mbombela until Thursday. Local bus operators, Buscor, Myboet’s Transport and others including Greyhound, Intercape and City to City were not affected. Great North said its buses were not operating as it feared for the safety of commuters.

A statement released by Buscor stated that the strike led to the company operating with a skeleton staff and apologised to commuters for any inconvenience caused. ” Buscor is committed to offer the best service despite constraints. We plead with commuters to be patient with us and to contact our offices in case of emergencies,” reads the statement.
Buscor can be contacted on (013) 754- 6246.
