Unknown taxi committee members’ killers on the run

The victims, both members of the KwaNdebele United Local and Long Distance Taxi Association (KULLDTA) were gunned down in separate incidents this week.

Mpumalanga police are looking for information that could lead to the arrest of unknown men who killed two taxi committee members.

According to police, the suspects, driving a black Mercedes Benz, shot Mr Timothy Zwane (57) while he was offloading passengers from his taxi at Kgobokoane Taxi Rank on February 19.

A passenger was injured during the shooting. Police say the passenger is in a critical condition in hospital.

The second incident took place yesterday at about 09:00.

Mr Tari Joel Mnguni (61) was shot and killed after attending a taxi industry related meeting.

“No arrests have been made in both incidents,” said Brig Leonard Hlathi.
