A love triangle nearly cost lives in Tonga
The couple, both Mozambican nationals, together with their three year old daughter were sleeping in their rented room in Block C when the incident happened at about 02:00

A family of three narrowly escaped death on Thursday morning when their rented room caught fire.

Tonga police are now looking for the woman’s ex-boyfriend, a Swazi national who is believed to be biological father of the child. It is also alleged that he sent the woman’s lover intimidating messages during the day.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect threatened the other man complaining that he took his girlfriend from him. He even took his ex-girlfriend’s clothes from the flat and police were called to intervene,” explained Capt Magonseni Nkosi, spokesperson of Tonga police.

The woman and her child were rescued unharmed while the man sustained injuries on his hands and leg. He was taken to hospital for treatment.
No arrests made so far.
