Ehlanzeni TVET students on strike

Just a week before exams are set to start, students of Ehlanzeni TVET College decided to embark on a strike.

Students from the various campuses marched to the college’s head office in Mbombela, to handover a memorandum of grievances. The list of demands includes issues of poor infrastructure, Nsfas allowances, misappropriation of funds and corruption by some administrative officers, shortage of staff and student support services.

The college’s SRC president, Mr Sphelele Malibe, said they will disrupt exam procedures if their demands are not met. “It has been three months since we last received our Nsfas allowances, and that has led some students to drop out. We are giving the management three days to respond.
