Traditional leaders discuss issues of concern at Indaba
The two days seminar aims to bring together stakeholders to discuss key issues in positioning of the institution of traditional leadership for the future.
The leader of the house of traditional leaders in Mpumalanga, Inkhosi Sandile Ngomane calls for partnership between the house of traditional leaders in the province and the department of home affairs.
“We see girls illegally crossing borders to join millions of maidens attending the reed dance year after year in Swaziland. Parents even drop them by those routes,”
said Ngomane while opening the Mpumalanga provincial house of traditional leaders indaba at Ingwenyama Lodge, White River on Thursday.

Ngomane said there is a need to revive the practise of registering the girls particulars with home affairs so that they safely cross borders to and from the reed dance for the promotion of Swazi culture and heritage.
It is also attended by the deputy minister of traditional affairs Mr Obed Bapela who called on traditional leaders to be united and work under one banner which says the future of the country also belongs to traditional leaders.
