Alleged jealous ex girlfriend released on bail for murder and kidnap charges

HAZYVIEW -An alleged jealous ex girlfriend and her co accused who are implicated in the murder and kidnap of a 24 year old Bongekile Mokoena of Nyongane outside Hazyview, were released on R1 000 bail each.
Ms Lindiwe Mdluli (31) and Julenda Nkomo (36) were granted bail at the Kabokweni Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
The accused defence lawyer argued in court that his clients were not guilty until proven guilty as the law states. He also stated that they also had permanent residential addresses and were not a flight risk. After much debate in court, the two were granted bail. The matter was postponed to October 27.

The two were arrested after the discovery of Mokoena’s lifeless body floating at Inyaka Dam on August 7. She was last seen with her boyfriend on August 4. The boyfriend was surprised when he couldn’t find her by his side when he woke up on August 5.

A case of a missing person was opened at Hazyview police station and pictures of her were circulated on social networks by her family.Three days later Mokoena’s body was discovered by a taxi driver who went to wash his taxi at Inyaka Dam.

Bushbuckridge police opened the murder case. Mpumalanga News learnt that the murder case was not under Kabokweni Magistrate’s court jurisdiction, the court is waiting for the decision of the National Prosecution Authority to transfer the kidnapping charge to be jointly handled by the Bushbuckridge Magistrate’s Court.

Investigations still continue.
Outside court dissatisfied family members and the residents complained about the court’s decision to grant bail to the suspects.
