Uncle gets life imprisonment for raping his niece
According to the victim, this was not the first time the uncle raped her.
The Tonga Magistrate’s Court sentenced a 44-year-old to two life imprisonment for the rape of his 14-year-old niece during Women’s Month.
Magistrate Edga Moletsane found the victim’s uncle guilty on two counts of rape on August 4, almost five years after the crime he committed in October 3, 2012

According to police information, the uncle found his niece alone in the house on the day in question, grabbed her and forcefully raped her.
A rape case was opened on the same day. The victim was also taken to Tonga hospital for medical attention where it was confirmed that she was sexually assaulted. Counselling was also arranged for her.
