A boyfriend who allegedly killed his pregnant girlfriend and remove the baby inside get a free bail
EVANDER- Members of the Democratic Alliance and community members were picketing outside the local magistrate’s court in support of the family of a pregnant woman who was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend.
It is alleged that he beat her with hard objects and strangled her until she died. It is also alleged that he cut open her stomach with a sharp object and removed the unborn baby.
DA Cllr at Goven Mbeki Local Municipality who is responsible for community safety, Tonny Mabizela told Mpumalanga News that it’s about time for citizens to unite and fight against women and children who are abused.
“With the continued increase in femicide around the country, it is time for us to stand together and show our support for all women and children who are being abused.
We don’t understand why the suspect got a free bail because his actions sent a message clear that he is not fit to be in the community. How can you kill another human being like an animal,” asked Mabizela.
It is alleged that the deceased was in an abusive relationship for a very long time. Last year December her boyfriend allegedly beat her until she had a miscarriage.
This newspaper also learnt that this time around, the boyfriend had a misunderstanding with the girlfriend who was pregnant, she decided to go back to her family, but after some few days he allegedly called her to come and take money for medical check -up, little did she know that it was a trap the boyfriend wanted to kill her.
“As DA we call on government to stop paying lip service to women and children abuse, and start taking concrete steps to enforce a plan of action aimed at protecting women. We cannot, and will not, stop fighting for our mothers, sisters and children,”said Mabizela.
