Death toll rises on roads over the weekend

On Friday evening two separate crashes claimed six lives on the R23 and R573 roads.

The number of crashes increased to five after more than six people were killed during the weekend.

On Saturday morning three people died when a mini bus taxi lost control and crashed into a building on D2945 Road between Mzinti and Mgobodzi near Malalane. Two of the deceased were inside the building at the time of the crash while the third was a passenger. The driver sustained serious injuries and were taken to Tonga Hospital. A case of culpable homicide is being investigated by the police.

Another three people died between Kwamhlanga and Vaalbank around midnight on Saturday. This happened when a truck and a sedan collided head on. Two sustained serious injuries. It is reported that the driver of the truck fled the accident  scene.

In another incident that occured yesterday at Kamagugu Road, a motor vehicle overturned killing he driver and leaving a passenger with injuries.
