Residents demand TRT for their safety

BARBERTON – Community members have called on the MEC for community safety, security and liaison, Mr Pat Ngomane to deploy members of Tactical Response Unit, well known as Amabheret, to monitor the situation before things get out of control.

This demand comes after a group people overturned police van that was transporting six suspects who were charged for possession of an illegal firearm and were due to appear at the local magistrate’s court yesterday.

Ms Alicia Siboza had this to say: “It’s about time our leaders deployed Amaberet because it’s clear that the police are not well trained and some of them are too fat.

They are not fit to be in the police force. Just to make a simple example, at Pienaar there were places that were known as no-go areas due to rape, but the former MEC for community safety, security and liaison, Mr Vusi Shongwe deployed amabheret and they won the battle.”
