Miss Mpumalanga greeted as new MGB ambassador

Miss Mpumalanga 2017, Geraldine Williams, was officially welcomed as the new ambassador for the Mpumalanga Gambling Board (MGB) last Friday.

WHITE RIVER – This took place at a luncheon hosted by MGB with Mzimari Productions.

MGB’s chief executive officer, Mr Bheki Mlambo, mentioned that the Miss Mpumalanga pageant has grown tremendously since its inception seven years ago. “The pageant has become a signature event in the province, and I must admit that the right queen was chosen once again. We welcome our new queen to the family, and hope she will carry out her duties and responsibilities accordingly. As MGB, we will assist you in every way possible to make sure your journey with us is memorable and a successful one,” said Mlambo.

Ms Gugu Nyarenda, CEO of Mzimari Productions, also expressed her appreciation to the gambling board for their support, emphasising her drive to change the lives of young women. She said, “Thank you to MGB for believing in my vision and I am honoured to be welcoming my seventh queen.

“What gives me great pleasure is that we have united with another municipality, as Geraldine is from Volkrust, but belongs to all of us now. As Mzimari Productions, we say welcome and bear in mind that the crown comes with responsibilities.” Her words were echoed by the general manager of marketing at MGB, Mr Cedric Chiloane, who advised Geraldine how important it is to lead by example as an ambassador in the province. Geraldine thanked the organisers of Miss Mpumalanga and all sponsors, voicing her appreciation, “Being a finalist was a fulfilling journey and the support I have received has been great. I want to thank Gugu Nyarenda for allowing us girls to dream.

To the sponsors, you have made it possible for me to be standing here as Miss Mpumalanga. I will fulfil my duties to the best of my abilities. The previous queen, Elaine Mkhabela, left a mark and I surely have big shoes to fill. But I will not try and emulate anybody, for I vow to give myself fully as I say I am your ambassador for 2017.”
