Shebeens destroying learners’ lives

Mam’ Uyangichaza's shebeen is destroying lives of young people by selling booze to under aged children

MBOMBELA – There is a concerted drive to move shebeens as far away from schools.
The MEC for community safety, security and liaison Mr Pat Ngomane declared war on shebeen owners, especially those operating in villages are allegedly selling alcohol to under-aged children.

“Shebeens that are very close to schools are problematic because it’s easy to tempt the learners to buy alcohol and be exposed to a lot of bad things at an early age.

I have noted such things are very high in villages. Some of the shebeens are operating from garages at home and the worse part of it is that some of the owners don’t even have a liquor licence.

Their days are numbered, we are after them,” said Ngomane.
