11 suspects appear in court for selling land illegally
Eleven suspects appeared in the Nelspruit Magistrate's Court on Wednesday for charges of fraud and theft.
MBOMBELA – It is alleged that in 2014 the suspects peddled stands which belong to the City of Mbombela municipality next to Mbombela Stadium.
Initially, the suspects were arrested in 2015 and were released on R2 000 bail. Their case was temporarily struck off the court roll because the matter was still being handled at the civil court to determine the rightful owner of the land which is worth more than R10 million.

Earlier this year the case was reinstated, hence the suspects appeared in court on February 15 for selling land that doesn’t belong to them.
The judge ruled that if the state feels the case needs to continue, then it must continue even though the land issue is still in dispute. All the 11 suspects are due to appear in court on March 6 for trial.
