MBOMBELA – According to provincial spokesperson, Ms Sasekani Manzini, “This rally, which was convened to celebrate the monumental achievement of the ANC’s 105th anniversary, was used to declare 2017 as “the year of Oliver Reginald Tambo: Let us deepen unity!”.
The theme found expression throughout the statement which directed all members and structures of the ANC to celebrate the life of Tambo, by uniting and strengthening the party, intensifying the work of building a non-racial, non-sexist, democratic and prosperous society, and intensifying the fight for a peaceful and just world order.
“We congratulate all the winners of the ANC Achievers Awards. We extend special congratulations to the Nelson Mandela Branch, Bohlabela Region, and Bushbuckridge Subregion in our province, for winning the Sol Plaatjie Award, which is conferred to the best performing branch of the ANC. We encourage the leadership and membership of the branch to keep up the good work, and nothing should deter them from performing the tasks of branches in general and that of the democratic revolution in particular.
“We also extend special congratulations to the ANC caucus of Nkangala District Municipality for winning the ZK Matthews Award, which is conferred to the best performing group of ANC councillors.
“We thank them for their determination, hard work, and discipline when executing the tasks given to them by the ANC, in the terrain of struggle, which is the state.

“We have no doubt that this award will go a long way in encouraging the entire council and its administration to continue with delivering quality services to our people and most importantly, increase the level of confidence our people have in the ANC-led council which continues to achieve a clean audit.
“We also urge the caucus in Nkangala District Municipality to provide necessary support to the local municipalities within its vicinity, to improve their performance and allow them to deliver quality services to our people.
“These awards should serve as an encouragement to other branches of the ANC and municipalities in the province. Branch leadership and the political leadership of municipalities across the province must learn best practices from our winners, not only for competing, but for performing the important tasks of the democratic revolution with excellence.
“It is only through performing the important tasks of the democratic revolution in every terrain of struggle, that we can guarantee that the ANC becomes stronger and lives eternally.
“We thank the people of South Africa in general and Mpumalanga in particular, for coming out in their numbers to attend the rally despite the not-so-favourable weather conditions.
“We have no doubt that the ANC left that rally a stronger organisation, after receiving a clear message on the importance of uniting the organisation, listening to our people and serving them with utmost honesty and honour,” she concluded.
