Botched abortion accused out on bail
She left the infant in a toilet and thought that the baby was dead.
NEWSCOM – A 31-year-old mother was arrested last week for attempted murder after she allegedly tried to kill her baby when she drank an abortion potion. She is out on bail of R2 000.
This comes after Ms Pretty Nkosi made her second appearance at the Kabokweni magistrate’s court for attempted murder.
Mpumalanga News learnt that Nkosi, who was six months pregnant, landed herself in hot water after she drank an abortion potion that she allegedly bought from backstreet hawkers, but her plan failed to effect the abortion.

She left the infant in a toilet and thought that the baby was dead, but after some few seconds, the baby cried out loud until she was heard by a certain woman who wanted to use the toilet and alerted the police.
The police traced her whereabouts from the women who discovered the baby and they managed to find Nkosi.

Meanwhile, the innocent baby is growing well at Themba hospital and Nkosi’s bail condition ordered her not to go to the hospital or being found close to the baby .
