ERMELO – The local shopping complex and garages behind the Ermelo Inn were flooded after a heavy storm on Sunday.
According to reports from the department of cooperative governance and tradition affairs, the capacity of the drainage system could not contain the amount of water, hence water flooded the area damaging items in the shops.
On Monday the complex was reported to be on a standstill.
The shacks along the flood line next to the stadium also flooded and affected communities were relocated to a place of safety in a neighbouring school. Victims were provided with food and blankets tarpaulins and gel stoves.
