Miss Bushbuckridge to bring about change

The event will be jam-packed with entertainment, speakers of note and TV and radio personalities.

BUSHBUCKRIDGE – Make a date to attend the first-ever Miss Bushbuckridge Beauty Pageant at Mantiteng Guesthouse on October 29.

One of the organisers, Nelisiwe Ndlovu says, “Beauty pageants have grown in popularity over the past decade with virtually every village having its own beauty contest. Young girls parade their beauty with the hope of being able to do so on a bigger stage one day. Against the backdrop of a spectacularly beautiful region and a vibrant youth culture, young people face socio-economic challenges such as poverty, unemployment, HIV/Aids and teenage pregnancy, therefore, we have decided to use an old trick to change the lives of the young people of Bushbuckridge.

“Miss Bushbuckridge aims to crown that one girl who possesses beauty, intelligence, poise, grace and class. This is one pageant that will not come and go without having changed the winner’s life for the better. We have contestants from every corner of Bushbuckridge and we believe the winner will be a young woman who will represent the region with pride.

SABC 1 siSwati news reader, Millicent Phakathi will co-host the event with Rugga Marv from 18:00 to 20:00.
