Beware of Mbombela scam

The City of Mbombela Municipality is urging people not to fall victim to employment promise scam.

MBOMBELA – A statement has been issued out warning job seekers and applicants about a scam making the rounds that jobs are for sale at the municipality.

Philisiwe Mogane from Barberton has been persuaded by scammers to bring R1 000, promising her an admin position at the instituition in return. “I was called by a man yesterday in the afternoon, but I can’t recall who he introduced himself as. He told me that Mbombela is hiring and I have been shortlisted to come for an interview. I had applied when the vacancies were advertised, but I quickly remembered that the positions were for a secretarial position,” she said.

Municipal Manager, Mr Noko Seanago emphasized that all vacancies, when due, are advertised in the media and various Service Centres. “The City of Mbombela has no agents or private provideers who do recruitment. The management distances and exonerates itself from unlawful recruitment processes,” he sternly warns.
