MEC warns lazy contractors

MBOMBELA – Lazy contractors who are awarded tenders to build RDP houses will face the might of MEC for Human Settlements’ Mr Speedy Mashilo as has vowed to speed up the process of delivering decent houses to needy people.
Delivering his keynote address at the annual Govan Mbeki Awards that was held yesterday evening, he emphasised that he will not tolerate lazy contractors.
“I don’t have time play games with people who are awarded tenders by government but failed to do justice to the community in terms of delivering better houses. I have discovered that there are contractors who don’t bother themselves to visit their projects. They are just relying on the sub-contractors. The only thing that they are good at is buying fancy cars.
“It’s embarrassing that some of them don’t know even the directions to the projects, they get lost and request directions from municipal officials, What kind of a contractor are you? Shame on you. Such things will come to an end, this is not a joke,” he warned.
