Home affairs urge all South Africans to vote

Elections represent a unique opportunity for all citizens to actively participate in the country’s democratic processes.

The Portfolio Committee on Home Affairs encourages all eligible voters to exercise their constitutional right to vote in tomorrow’s municipal elections.

Elections represent a unique opportunity for all citizens to actively participate in the country’s democratic processes.
The Committee wishes all first-time voters well as they cast their vote.

The Committee further calls on all young South Africans to take an active interest in the democratic processes of the country in order to ensure the strengthening of South Africa’s democracy.

“The deployment by the Justice, Crime Prevention and Security cluster of members of the South African Police Service and the South African National Defence Force to 600 high-risk areas around the country, including Vuwani, is welcomed. It will ensure that every citizen’s right to vote is protected,” said Committee Chairperson Mr Lemias Mashile.

The Committee also calls on citizens to desist from any action that might threaten the effective running of these elections. It also calls on citizens to take advantage of the extended working hours at the Department of Home Affairs to collect their identification documents to enable them to vote.
