Police will arrest people who buy stolen goods- says MEC Shongwe

According to Shongwe, crime was perpetrated because of people who buy stolen goods and parents who allow their children to bring stolen goods.

MBOMBELA- Mpumalanga Community Safety, Security and Liaison MEC Vusi Shongwe said that closing of stolen goods market can help reduce crime.

According to Shongwe, crime was perpetrated because of people who buy stolen goods and parents who allow their children to bring stolen goods.
He made a call to police to arrest all those who allow or buy stolen goods as they encourage crime.

Shongwe said that it would benefit the country to completely eradicate crime and redirect the funds used for crime prevention to enhance service delivery and assist destitute and vulnerable individuals.

“Imagine how much we spend on crime prevention initiatives and jails, these billions can change your lives if we come together and end crime. We know the perpetrators, they are our family members; why then do we allow them to continue committing crime? Why is it so difficult these days to discipline our own children?” he asked the community.
