MBOMBELA –Learners from different schools around Ehlanzeni were afforded an opportunity to experience the working environment during the take a child to work campaign hosted by Ehlanzeni District Municipality.
Learners who were part of this programme said it was an eye opener, especially when it comes to choosing careers after matric.
Speaking during the gathering, the executive mayor of the district, Cllr Letta Shongwe said, ” We feel honoured to host this campaign as we are determined to make our country a better country by investing in education,”she said.
Some of the local schools that participated in the campaign included Valencia Combine, Bergvalm High School and Nelspruit Private College.
Speaking to this publication one of the learners from Valencia Combine School, Casey Schatz had this to say
, “I don’t regret to be part of this initiative. I have learnt a lot about environmental issues since I am interested in pursuing environment studies. As young people we do need such campaigns that will motivate us and push us to aim higher.”
