Shongwe will fight crime hand in hand with the community

MBOMBELA – MEC for community safety, security and liaison, Mr Vusi Shongwe has vowed to mobilize communities in different places around the province, to fight against crime.

This publication learnt that Shongwe would be getting close and personal with the community through outreach programmes and hosting Indabas as it’s reported that an amount of R2,5 million has been budgeted for the programmes during this financial year.

Some of the things that will be addressed during the outreach programmes also includes human trafficking.

In an exclusive interview, he was quoted saying that it’s very important for community members to have a good working relationship with the police as he said: “Communities must also play a role in fighting crime by working close with the police.

“We are not going to win this battle alone, but if we unite, and not turn a blind eye on those incidents of women and child abuse, then will be a better province with a zero tolerance against any form of crime,” he said.
