Police officers are at the top of their games

The pair were honoured for their commitment to Adopt-a-Cop and visibility in the school.

MBOMBELA – Last Thursday Barberton Police Station outshone their competition during a teachers’ ceremony that was hosted by Mjindini Secondary School at Nutting House Lodge in the CBD.
The station walked away with two certificates of appreciation for the good work and dedication regarding the school-safety programme.

The two police officers who managed to put the station on the map were Sgt Duma Nkosi and Const Gift Nkosi.
The pair were honoured for their commitment to Adopt-a-Cop and visibility in the school.

The station commander, Lt Gen Lindani Ndlovu appreciated their efforts and the relationship they had built with the Department of Education.

This initiative would play a significant role in motivating other schools to be involved in the programme and other police officers to take their jobs seriously.
Since this initiative was introduced by the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison, so far it has shown a huge improvement in terms of not giving thugs or pupils who misbehave a chance to do as they please in school premises.

Meanwhile, this newspaper also learnt that the carrying of dangerous weapons, dagga smuggling and selling of other illegal substances that are prohibited at schools were still a problem.
