Happy hunting ground sets stage for Aces

Aces are also on the road to Rustenburg to face Platinum Stars on Sunday. Both fixtures kick-off at 15:30.

Mbombela United have been drawn against the Tshwane giants, Mamelodi Sundowns, in the Nedbank Cup, while Mpumalanga Black Aces were pitted  against the struggling Maritzburg United.
Both games have been scheduled for April 2.
Black Aces will take their fight to KaNyamazane Stadium, a home venue for Mbombela United.

Tingwenyama on the other hand will travel to Pretoria’s Lucas Moripe Stadium also on the same date where they will be looking to emulate Baroka FC, who caused upsets by knocking out Kaizer Chiefs and Moroka Swallows in this very competition. Mbombela United had gained passage to last 16 of this lucrative competition after walloping Sibanye Golden Stars 4-0 on  March 06.

Aces on the other side had beaten United Rovers 7-0 to advance further.
Gordon Masondo, the Aces spokesperson, said even though their opponents, Maritzburg United were currently battling, they would never make a mistake of underestimating them.
“They may be struggling at the moment, but remember, this is a cup competition where every team wants to make a mark. United know that this may be their last chance of redeeming themselves, so we are not going to take chances at all,” said Masondo.

He said they had decided to take the game to KaNyamazane to accommodate the many supporters who cannot always afford to travel to Mbombela Stadium.
“We wanted to take this game straight to our fans and all soccer-loving people of the province. KaNyamazane Stadium has proven to be a happy hunting venue for us and we are hoping we will emerge victors after this encounter and proceed to the quarter finals,” went on Masondo.
Both home teams will have to wait a bit though and concentrate on their league fixtures.

Mbombela United will this Saturday travel to Durban where they have a tough date against Thanda Royal Zulu at the Umhlathuze Sports Complex.
