MBOMBELA – Crowning
Miss Mpumalanga organisers have secured the use of exclusive designs from one of the most revered designers in South Africa, TK Mbatha.
Originally from KwaZulu-Natal, the Johannesburg-based expert, affectionately known as TK, designs and dresses hordes of South African celebrities.
His expertise will be handy for
Miss Mpumalanga contestants, who will get to wear casual outfits from his lable, Lloyd Hot Sense.
It is said that charity begins at home and this applies to the Estcourt-born founder Thokozani Mbatha, who realised his talent at a very young age.
He would always cut and redo the clothes his parents bought him, hence the scissors at home were always locked away.
After matric he enrolled himself at Damelin, where he studied fashion design. In 2007 he was appointed by Nando’s to redo the uniforms for all their franchises. This catapulted TK’s career.
The uniforms landed him a feature in Move! magazine.
He worked hand in hand with the likes of Minenhle Dlamini, Dineo Ranaka and musician Bucie. The Lloyd brand was created and set to redefine the way we look at fashion.
In 2012 his designer dress was worn by Miss Soweto.
He soon owned his own fashion studio that produced designer clothes, which dressed the likes of Katlego Danke, Khanyi Mbau, Jessica Nkosi, Mpumi Mzobe, Ntombi Ngcobo, iFani, Blue Mbombo (Diski Divas), Felicia Modise, Lerato Kganyago, AKA, Cassper Nyovest, Boity Thulo, Mlungisi from Skeem Saam, Shelton Forbes, Melanie “Hypress” Ramjee and Mutale Mwanza.
He also did a feature on METRO FM Live magazine where he dressed Luthando Lutlove.
He was in charge of designing and styling iFani on the Stumbo Stomp amaPantsula show 2014 which  aired on SABC 1.
“We had to draw on the expertise of TK to design the girls’ casual wear.  Mind you, he is also one of the five judges. His speciality on the judging panel is “style and class”.
He knows all the girls and has the perfect match for all of them to suit their personality and physique.
We have also engaged local designers for the evening wear, garments that the queen and her two princesses, will be  crowned in.
The brief given to our local designers, whom we’re are empowering through this project, is “elegance” because a  Miss Mpumalanga should be an elegant person,” said Mzimari Productions’ MD and stylist, Ncobile Nyarenda.
The finals will be held on April 9 at the Church On  The Hill.
Tickets are available at Computicket and Shoprite Checkers at R150 for ordinary tickets and R400 for VIPs.
