You have a democratic right to register your complaints and be heard and resolutions should be forthcoming.

The past weekend was a very testing time for political parties who went all out to urge the electorate to register to vote.

What was interesting though, was the fact that in some areas there were disruptions with the electorate rising up in anger against politicians whom they term as opportunists who only want their votes in order to remain in office or in power.

While that was happening, yours truly was judging a beauty pageant, where, among the numerous questions asked, was why the youth were reluctant to register or to vote; their concerns and so forth.

A whole lot of points were raised by some, who are against, which made sense, and also those that were for, also raised valid reasons in the sense that you cannot change anything from outside or making your mark through voting in order to influence change, no matter whom you vote for.

It was young minds at play, and women for that matter, which made even more sense because those are society’s keepers and restorers of our livelihood as a society, and worse still, these were future mothers and leaders of tomorrow.

Be that as it may, if you want to change something, you have to take a stand and position yourself somewhere, whether within that very organisation or any other, but through voting and having registered, you have the power to effect change in society.

You have a democratic right to register your complaints and be heard and resolutions should be forthcoming, if democracy is practised rightly in our society, but we still stand to be counted among the most practicable democrats.

Time will tell, but meanwhile, let your voices be heard through your votes and really vote for progress and prosperity for all.
