Sasekani slides into the Legislature

During her swearing in ceremony, Sasekani made it clear that she will uphold the values stood for by her political party.

MBOMBELA – ANC Youth League Provincial Secretary, Ms Sasekani Manzini is now a member of the provincial legislature. She was sworn in yesterday by the Speaker, Ms Thandi Shongwe, in the presence of her family, colleagues, and the legal team.

During her swearing in ceremony, Sasekani made it clear that she will uphold the values stood for by her political party.

“I’m not here to do anything outside of the ANC, I’m just grateful for the opportunity afforded to me in contributing towards ensuring that service delivery is realized. This is a great step by the ANC in involving young people in decisive positions, it’s a huge step towards the 40 percent representation we are pushing for,” said Sasekani.

The ANCYL in the province has since released a statement to congratulate Manzini.

“The ANCYL in Mpumalanga congratulates Cde Sasekani Manzini who currently serves as our Provincial Secretary for being sworn in as a member of the Mpumalanga provincial legislature. The ANCYL is delighted at this implementation of our call for 40% youth representation in all key sites of struggle and leavers of power.

“This development comes after we come from a successful provincial conference of the ANC were we ensured Cde Sasekani Manzini amongst other young people and youth league graduates are elected into the ANC PEC,” read the statement.

The structure went on to express its confidence towards Manzini.

“The ANCYL is confident that our tirelessly working provincial secretary will not be keeping quiet seated in the benches of those chambers in the legislature but will confront the continuous lunatic theatrics of the opposition with the contempt it deserves.

“As we welcome her deployment, we are saying this is just the first installment of our 40% youth representation but not the panacea of our clarion call, we are therefore registering today that we also want representation in the executive cabinet led by Premier DD Mabuza. Nothing about us without us,” concluded the statement.
