Local gospel artist to represent province in Crown Gospel Awards

He will compete with well-known artists in the country in this category which is Thobekile Mkhwanazi, Andile Kamajola and Dumi Mkokstad.

For the first time in history, one of our very own local gospel artists, Mxolisi Mbethe, will represent Mpumalanga in the sixth SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards at the Durban ICC on Saturday evening. He’s been nominated in the category best gospel song with “Kwagqitywa Khona”, which is one of the tracks on his new album Ujesu uyaphila/Jesus is alive.

Speaking to Mpumalanga News, Mbethe said he felt honoured to be part of the nominees in this category since the standard was very high. ”It’s a privilege to be part of the occasion and it is my first time to enter the gospel awards,“ he explained.

He’s been in this industry for a very long time, and Mpumalanga News has learnt that his latest album is enjoyed by many people and has branded him well in the industry. According to Mbethe, his fourth one is unique when you compare it with his previous album. He said, “What makes this one unique, is that it’s full of worshiping songs that uplift a person spiritually. Once again I’d like to thank my supporters because without them, I wouldn’t make it this far and even going further and be among the ones who are nominees in the Crown Gospel Awards.“
